All of our teachers – whether they are Maltese or foreign nationals, are native-ability speakers of English. They are carefully selected for their academic ability, their communicative skills and their rapport with students.

Every teacher is fully qualified to teach English as a second language and all teachers are monitored to ensure that high standards are maintained. Some of our teachers also have the advantage of having diverse experience, coming from a range of professional backgrounds, including commerce, law, and the arts.


Michelle Petroni

Michelle
Michelle was born in the UK and has been teaching at Elanguest since October 1999. She has taught Cambridge Exam Classes and general courses at all levels. Michelle loves to interact with her students on various topics and she is known to be a very helpful teacher when it comes to students' queries. Being a full time teacher at Elanguest since 2005, Michelle is a CELTA qualified teacher with a vast amount of teaching experience.

Horace Micallef

Horace
True to his Cambridge ESOL Celta training, Horace always strives to inject a real-life dimension into his lessons; whether he's handling general or exam-oriented classes, business or ESP lessons. To do this, he also draws on his many other experiences he acquired before he started teaching two years ago: 12 years in Insurance and 16 years running an Events Company as a business partner, plus stints as Advertising Account Executive and Hotel Sales and Marketing Manager. Don't be surprised if Horace's lessons come with doses of 'edutainment' - he's a keen follower of all performing art forms. being an ex-theatre writer/director/actor and a former corporate events producer.

Derek Graham

Derek
Derek is a teacher from Newcastle who specialises in Business, Advanced English and Cambridge Exam Classes.

He also has a wealth of experience teaching English for Academic purposes at Herriot Waat University in Edinburgh and the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.

He has taught English in China, Croatia, Spain and Sicily. He has been working at Elanguest since the beginning of 2011 and has proved to be an efficient English teacher at very high levels.

Stewart Thomson

Stewart
Stewart has been teaching at Elanguest since 2003 with previous experience in Germany. Being an experienced General Manager in a computer corporation, Stewart specializes in Business English and teaches high levels at our school. Stewart has also taught Exam preparation classes at Elanguest. On a personal note, being from Edinburgh, Stewart is a Hearts FC supporter.

Richard Bonello

Richard
Richard obtained his Teacher's Certificate as a fully qualified teacher from the University of Manchester after attending a two year residential course at Hopwood Hall Teacher's Training College - Middleton Manchester U.K. Taught English and general subjects at these schools:

St.Joseph's College - Ipswich, UK

De La Salle College - Malta

St. Edward's College - Malta

Mr. Bonello was appointed first Head of the Primary School at St.Edward's College - Malta and attended a TEFL course at Elanguest where he has been teaching since 1998.

Lucy

Lucy Darmanin

Born in Wales, Lucy moved to Malta in 1996 and has been teaching at Elanguest since 2002. She mainly teaches lower levels from Beginner to Intermediate. Lucy states that when she was at school herself, she had problems learning grammar and so she feels that one of her strengths is that she able to empathise and understand her students' difficulties when it comes to learning grammar. Lucy believes that her personal experience has helped her become a better grammar teacher.

An interesting fact about Lucy is that she is a professional horse riding instructor and has five horses which she uses for training and competitions.

Christine

Christine Grech

Christine has been working at Elanguest since 2007. Christine specialises in low level classes as she has had experience at the Convent of the Sacred Heart School in St.Julian's. Christine has also worked as a researcher for a prominent bank in Malta. She is well known for her charisma with our students who seek her for academic advice and help.

Robert Fenech

Robert dealt with various Business matters in various banks such as financial assessments, accounts, projections,stocks, shares and bonds around the world for 38 years. He worked in 12 countries including Australia, Italy, UK, Egypt, and African countries. Part of the work was to teach Business English to most of the foreign staff in these banks. As one can imagine, it is only natural that Robert's expertise is in Business English at Elanguest for the past 10 years.

Carol with Richard

Carol Farrugia

Educated at St.Joseph's Convent in Sliema, Carol won the national NATO essay competition in 1964. Having worked in legal, PR and administrative departments for a beverage company, Carol went on to teach at Chiswick House School for five years. Carol has been working for Elanguest since 1998 and she is one of the best teachers for one to one lessons as she is a very enthusiastic and energetic person.


George Simonds

George
George Simonds is originally Maltese but spent 8 years at Boarding Schools in England. He has also worked in Tourism and the music business. George has been working at Elanguest for the past years and also attended a CELTA course in Malta. George enjoys teaching grammar and holding interesting discussions with students.

His hobbies include listening to rock music, playing drums and football. He is also an avid Juventus FC fan.

Teamwork

Teamwork is important at Elanguest. The teachers produce daily progress reports and discuss between themselves and the studies co-ordinator, the best way to overcome the problems of any particular student. You’ll soon discover that our teachers are caring and patient and will ensure your lessons are effective.
