This highly interactive, specialist course, aims to provide the student with a sufficient level of Medical English terminology to help develop the communication skills required to converse with English speaking doctors and patients.
This condensed 20 hour two week afternoon course covers a broad range of topics which include:
• Medical vocabulary, terminology, and Idioms • Role-play • Doctor Patient relationships • Understanding medical reports and case studies • Medical abbreviations
Using study material from leading European Universities and medical institutes, this programme is carefully compiled from specialist medical resources, current case studies, topical reports and journals.
In order to apply for this course, students should already have a basic to intermediate knowledge of English. Students who do not have the necessary level of English are advised to enrol in an additional General English refresher course.
Elanguest has been chosen by the European Union to head an international team of partners providing multimedia training tools for Medical English. These extensive resources are freely available to all our Medical English students at no extra cost. (Summer 2003) Optional English add-on lessons
The afternoon Medical English course can be taken as a stand alone course or combined with the General English program during or prior to the start of the course.
General English consist of 20 sessions per week from 9:00 to 12:30, Monday to Friday. Each session is 45 minutes and there is a maximum class size limit of 12 persons.
