Elanguest English Language School - providing General, Business, and Specialist English Courses, with Tours and Activities, in Malta since 1992.
The name 'Elanguest' comes from the term ‘English Language for Guests’, and that is precisely what we do; we view students as our guests and the whole 'we care' ethic of the school has always been to create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in which the teaching of English can be coupled with a great stay in Malta.
Our goal is quality teaching in a quality environment with quality service – and we have been doing it successfully for over 22 years.
Our language school was founded by David and Ursula West with one goal in mind to create a friendly, supportive environment where students could be taught English by great teachers. David West taught at one of England’s most prestigious private schools and his focus was always on academia and the benefit of students.
From the start, we wanted to make Elanguest a place where the focus on academic success really worked hand in hand with the community that is the school.
A school is really all about community; students getting to know each other and their teachers. Backed by an office staff, ready to help, and tours and interesting activities to make the most of their free time. Our hope is to make the student's stay useful, enjoyable and memorable
The method for ensuring a high standard is simple; we choose our teachers carefully, support them through teacher training and communication, keep our syllabus constantly and closely monitored and get to know our students so that they get the time and attention they need.
As a school, structure and discipline are very important because we really do take our students’ education seriously. By working together with our students to make the most of their time here, our students really can relax and enjoy the island knowing that their studies are on track.
All of our teachers – whether they are Maltese or foreign nationals, are native-ability speakers of English. They are carefully selected for their academic ability, their communicative skills and their rapport with students.
Every teacher is fully qualified to teach English as a second language and all teachers are monitored to ensure that high standards are maintained. Some of our teachers also have the advantage of having diverse experience, coming from a range of professional backgrounds, including commerce, law, and the arts.
Over the past 12 years, Elanguest has been project partners with some of the foremost Universities in Europe in developing teaching material for English Learning.
2001 – 2003 – Englishmed.com – online resources for Medical English
2005 – 2007 – Immilabour (now named linguasnet) – online Language Course plus information about working and settling in a new country. Elanguest was responsible for developing the English course section of that site and providing local information about Malta.
2011-2014 – sTANDEM – The creation of a Standardized Language Testing System for Medical Purposes. The consortium of nine of top European Universities and one International University are using Elanguest and Englishmed to promote this project.
A school is all about people, so as far as our staff are concerned, any questions, any time, we are there to help you in any way we can during your stay. Our office is always open.
Attendance Certificate - All students attending any language course at Elanguest receive a CEFR Standard Certificate of Achievement.
External exam students will receive their international certification when the school receives it from the overseas Examining Body. They will also receive an internal End of Course Certificate from Elanguest on their completion of the course.
Elanguest language school is dedicated to St. Pio of Pietrelcina.
